Throughout its history, Carnegie Hall has been known as the home of the greatest musical performances and the destination for the world’s finest artists. On Tuesday, April 9, 2013 the Tesoro Symphony Orchestra had the honor of performing in the New York International Music Festival on stage in the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. The judges; Dr. Virginia Allen, assistant dean for orchestral studies at The Juilliard School of Music, Professor Emeritus Margery Deutsch, director of orchestras and Professor of Conducting at the University of Wisconsin and Dr. Lawrence R. Sutherland,Jr., Professor of Music and Director of Bands Emeritus, California State University, Fresno congratulated the Symphony Orchestra and their directors; Cathy Olinger & Andy Magana on the musical maturity, ensemble sound and superior performance on Concerto Grosso for String Orchestra by Ralph Vaughan Williams and A Festival Prelude by Alfred Reed. Congratulations to the Tesoro Symphony Orchestra for earning the ‘GOLD’ Rating at the 2013 New York International Music Festival. This rating indicates recognition from all three of the distinguished festival judges for achieving the highest level of musical excellence in all categories of adjudication for each selection performed.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 8,300 National Merit Scholarships. About 1.5 million juniors in some 22,000 high schools entered the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT Qualifying Test. Finalists will be announce in February. We are very proud of Bryan who in addition to his academic pursuit, has continued to keep Orchestra and Varsity Tennis in his schedule all four years! Go Titans!
