Message from the Principal

Dear Tesoro Titans, Staff, & Community,

Thank you for visiting the Tesoro High School website. I hope you will find it to be informative and entertaining. As a California Distinguished School that is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, there is much to be proud of at Tesoro High School. We have again been named one of “America's Best High Schools” by U.S. News & World Report in 2015. With over 2,000 high schools in California, Tesoro is ranked 120th and 613th when compared nationwide to more than 31,000 public high schools. We have been recognized as one of the magazine's “Silver Medal” award winners.

Our vision is that Tesoro is a place where all students’ needs are met in an environment where the Titan community consistently does the right and proper thing by demonstrating Wisdom, Strength, and Honor. To this end, we have hired a staff of teachers and support personnel who genuinely care about young people and are committed to their success. We expect our students to perform and behave at a very high level and we offer a variety of programs that are designed to ensure student success.

Our academic program is second to none. We offer a full range of college prep, honors, and Advanced Placement courses. Support is available to ensure that all students have the opportunity to take and succeed in high level coursework. A concerted effort has been made to grow our course offerings to provide more opportunities for all of our students to participate in challenging and rigorous learning activities.

Our performing arts students consistently rank among the top schools in not only Orange County or Southern California, but are some of the best students in the United States. Our choir, band, and orchestra students received a Grammy Award for being one of the top five schools in the United States in 2015. This year, our very own music teacher Keith Hancock is a national finalist for the Music Educator Award from the Grammy Foundation—placing in the top ten teachers out of over 4,500 nominations.

A full range of athletic activities are available to our students. We are a member of the Coast View Athletic Association and our teams participate in the very competitive South Coast and Sea View Leagues. Our athletic programs are consistently ranked in the top 10 in Orange County.

As you travel through our site, I hope that you get a sense of what we are about at Tesoro and an understanding of all of the wonderful educational opportunities that we offer. I look forward to meeting you.
