90-School Day Student Privelege Suspension

Upon any violation of the established drug/alcohol policy, the student will lose ALL school activities/privileges (both co-curricular and extra-curricular) for a period of 90-school days from the first day of suspension (see * IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS below).  However, for a first offense only, a student may earn the right to have co-curricular activities/privileges only reinstated after a minimum of 20-school days from the first day of suspension, subject to the following stipulations and provisions.

 

  1. Student must complete 5 (five) days of suspension at the Alternative to Suspension (ATS) program; and

 

  1. Student must complete a 12-hour drug/alcohol prevention counseling program or PRYDE.

 

Although a student who completes the above stipulations will be eligible to have co-curricular activities/privileges reinstated after the minimum 20-school day period, under no circumstances will the extra-curricular activities/privileges be reinstated until after the full 90-school day period.

 

The above 90 and 20-day periods will be carried over from one school year to the next if the offense occurred during the spring semester.

 

 

* IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS:

 

Co-curricular activities/privileges:  Those school activities that pertain directly to a specific course or curriculum in which the student in enrolled and receiving credit.  Examples include:  performing arts, athletics, ASB, cheerleading, etc.

 

Extra-curricular activities/privileges:  All extra activities that do not relate directly to a specific course or curriculum.  Examples include:  all dances, all spectator events, Comedy Sports, Air Guitar, DodgeBall, sporting events, etc.
